Did you take advantage of the opportunity this week when Facebook and Instagram went down? An opportunity to...
- Focus on your day without virtual distractions
- Finish a project you’ve been working on for some time.
- Maybe even pick up the phone and actually have a conversation with someone?
Think of what you might 'lose' if Instagram or Facebook kicked the bucket tomorrow, and what systems you need to have in place for back up. More and more people are building businesses without social media. Is that possible in today’s world?
Two important non-social media systems I recommend to my coaching clients are
- A monthly email newsletter to customers.
- A weekly email to team members.
Let’s look at the reason why these are two important communications.
A monthly e-mail newsletter to customers
The say the highest form of conversion for sales is e-mail marketing. The reason is most people open e-mails versus seeing any social media posts that are controlled by an algorithm.
The e-mail open rate is key because your main purpose is to build a relationship with your customer and take them on a journey. The journey is to serve each customer and share the great benefits of your products, the solutions your product offer and how your products improve their life. Sending newsletters to customers help you bridge this gap. You learn about
their family, their lifestyle, their work. You know the details of their last order and products she loves the most. You have a little glimpse into her life, you have great content for writing a newsletter with stories and information that will attract her to keep in touch and above all, want to buy, or book with you again.
I recommend a solid Customer system for all my clients where we set up a step by step connections to keep them engaged in loving your products and learning more about you, your life and your business. And one of those connections is your monthly email newsletter! This newsletter helps you and the customer build that relationship and when they are ready to order again,
they will think of you!
A weekly email to team members
The same is true for building relationships with team members. However, working with your team the consistency of connecting every week not only builds strong friendships with team members, it is a crucial ingredient in growing a team of people who care about each other.
I call it the Power of the Printed word. Team members LOVE to be recognized and when they see their name in print. It empowers them to do more. Nothing encourages people more to take action than having their accomplishments noticed and praised. The consistent recognition in your weekly e-mail news makes them feel good about themselves and builds their confidence. This once a week communication, eliminates e-mail overwhelm. They LOVE the written recognition, which inspires them to sell more, book more and recruit more. It emphasizes the value of being part of a team that grows together and, as a leader, you are role-modeling consistency.
So, my friend, I highly recommend you choose a way to stay in touch with customers and team members “other” than social media. I got a ton of emails today from people who were panicking and suggesting people connect through zoom and other methods and that’s not good for business.
- Your customers will LOVE to receive your monthly newsletter and anticipate lots of fun, new and innovative stories.
- Your team members will LOVE your weekly emails with ideas that supports and inspires them to grow their business.
A platform that never loses its value is YOUTUBE and this week I’m sharing three reasons on how to close your prospects in a recruiting conversation. It's never too late to start a kickass channel.
