Fire is a very real and scary thing! It was a quiet Saturday evening when my neighbor knocked on my door and said, “Come on, we need to go!” As I looked past her I could see flames in the distance and she added, “the rule is, when you see flames from your home it’s time to evacuate.” The flames were fanned by very strong winds and fortunately for us, the wind was going in the opposite
direction. However, that meant the NEXT town of Waikoloa with over 6,000 people had to be evacuated. What a night!
I am in awe of the fire-fighters, police, military and community who kept us informed. I spent the night at my daughter’s home even though I wasn’t in any imminent danger.
The question then is “what do you take with you?” How prepared are you if someone knocked on your door and said “It’s time to evacuate.” I grabbed my passport, my computer and some important papers, but that was all I could think of. I’m re-thinking to have a special file or briefcase ready for the future.
Ironically, I had just finished a blog post on my 5 Top Organization tips to start your month, which is a BIG part of being prepared in your business. Every month I work with my coaching clients on their goals and actions they need to take to achieve success.
