One of the BEST things I loved about working with my coach when building my million-dollar team, was our friendship. Jan knew the right words to say to me when I was having difficult time in working with difficult team members.
One day I was sharing my disappointment many team members who were doing NOTHING! It frustrated me that people would invest a large amount of dollars in a Fashion kit (our kits began at $300 and went up to $1800) and then not do a thing in their business. I’m sure you’re thinking the same thing about some of your team members. That’s when she said these words to me, in fact she “sang”
these words to me.
“You’ve got to know when to HOLD ‘em and know when to FOLD ‘em.”
Of course, she was talking about the Kenny Rogers song from The Gambler. But when she sang those words to me it all made sense. In fact, the lyrics go further to say,
“know when to walk away, know when to run…
and there’ll be time enough for counting when the dealin’s done.”
That’s when I created my “A.B.C. YOUR TEAM” system in growing your team. I divided my team into three groups so I would know how to “hold ‘em” and “fold ‘em.” And it was this SYSTEM that helped me understand how much energy I needed to work with each group.
When I teach this system to my coaching clients, it helps them breathe a sense of relief. So many times, we spend a ton of energy in places that takes up way too much of our time that doesn’t bring the results we need.
Every time I hear this song on the radio, it brings back lovely memories of my coach, Jan, who knew exactly how to help me through struggles in growing my business.
