In my coaching group we work on a Visibility Plan. One of the things we’re missing is the connections getting to know people at our in-home parties. That face to face connection happens in a short amount of time at a Hostess’s home. What seemed natural when we got together face to face now has to be transferred to an online
world.
How do we get to know one another, build connections and develop friendships online?
I caution you to be aware of people telling you to reach out and friend people you don’t know. That’s like cold calling. That’s when you know someone wants to sell you something. In fact, I had a person on “Words with Friends” (yes, I’m an addict) actually pitch me about bitcoins while playing a game and I had to tell her “I wasn’t
interested.” Seriously?
So, how do we “connect” with people at online parties?
We ask QUESTIONS and have online conversations and get to know people. We build a relationship! One of my systems I recommend to my clients to build a relationship at their online parties is to use the acronym F.O.O.D. and ask questions.
F is for “Family. These questions encourage people to share about their values.
O is for “Occupation.” Asking questions about occupation gives a good picture of her life.
O is for “Outside interests.” These questions evoke many great conversations.
D is for “Dreams.” Understanding people’s dreams helps you understand their goals in life.
F.O.O.D is an easy acronym to remember. Each one of these questions around F.O.O.D. leads to building deeper relationships when connecting ONLINE. Let me know if you try using this little system.
Did someone say PLANNER?
