The centerpiece was originally supposed to be big, fluffy, white hydrangeas, and we ordered them from the florist the day before. We put together a beautiful arrangement – all green & white! Those hydrangeas were gorgeous! The next morning (the morning of the tea) we had to pack up and bring it all upcountry! But, at 7:30 am my daughter texted.. “The hydrangeas have all wilted! OH
no!” I got in the car and drove to the farmers market to speak to the florist. She said, take those hydrangeas and dunk them in a big bucket of water to revive them. Both my daughter and I were flabbergasted at dunking these beautiful, delicate flowers in water. But, we did it… however, they didn’t revive in time for the tea, so at the last minute we got lilies, protea and fern and a help from a friend who SAVED the day for us, to produce this beautiful
arrangement! (Check the pic below to see the revived hydrangeas.)
With this disaster, we could have said, “I can’t do this!” But, we put our heads together, we figured out a plan. We got input from florist and friends, and we made it happen!!
Let’s take this story and compare it to our business. Whenever, you say, “I can’t” it’s equivalent to saying “I won’t!” And you literally shut down.
Someone, somewhere, is doing what you can’t or won’t do. This week, I want you to think about the words, “I can’t!” How many times do you say,
- “I can’t get a booking.”
- “I can’t get my hostess to respond.”
- “I can’t find any new customers.”
- “I can’t get any new team members.”
Think about it, you are putting the obstacle in front of you and you are shutting down.
Where there is a will there is a way, right? You have to have that “Whatever it takes, “ attitude, and that brings me to sharing with you THREE AMAZING women who cut through their fears, their obstacles and their “I can’ts!”
