Hello ,
I love the movie “Mama Mia!” I even saw the LIVE performance in London at the amazing Prince Edward Theater and we rocked in the aisles to that fabulous music. One of the scenes I love is when the daughter is sharing her mother’s Diary with her friends and she’s trying to figure out which one of the three guys is her father.
She reads from the diary to her friends, “Oh what a night! dot, dot, dot.” Here’s the movie clip to watch to get you in the groove.
And they ask? “ What’s dot, dot dot?” She says, “You know, dot, dot, dot, that’s what they did in the olden days!” ha!
Dot, dot, dot, is simply adding three dots after a sentence and filling in the blanks to complete the sentence and you imagine the future.
And that’s how I help my clients set their goals in the New year! How would you like to go through that exercise with me today?
Then, read on - dot, dot, dot!
First, get out paper and pen and answer these three questions…
Question #1 “What lessons did you learn in 2019?” We learn from our successes and learn from our mistakes, so this question helps you reflect on what worked in 2019 and what you might have done differently in 2019. So, begin by answering this question as it will help you figure what you want in
2020.
Question #2 “What Inspires you to get up every day to work your business?” This is revisiting your “why.” Sometimes our “why” changes from year to year. The key is your “why” is the accelerator driver of your business. Get clear with “why” and know why you love working your business, and it will help
you figure your goals in 2020.
Question #3 “What three top things do you want to accomplish in 2020 in your business?” Three is a great number and it gives you the impetus to look deep into your business and think about what you’d like to accomplish.
Now you’re ready for the dot… dot… dot…
Write down these words…
“It’s December 31, 2020 and I have … (dot, dot, dot,). Fast forward in your mind to the last day of 2020 and imagine in your mind what you think has transpired with the three things you want to accomplish in 2020.
Write this in paragraph form as if you were writing a letter to your best friend (or yourself.) It can be as long as you like with as many details as you like. Think about the three things you want to accomplish and what steps you might take to make them happen. Then get your head around the “dot, dot, dot” (like they did in
the olden days) and get very clear with your goals in 2020.
This exercise really works. I have clients who message me through the year sharing how they accomplished one or two things before the end of the year. Some of them write it on a 3x5 card and keep reviewing it every month til they accomplish one goal.
- One person wanted to grow her VIP Customer group.
- One wanted to promote up two levels.
- One wanted to earn her trip incentive for her and husband.
- One wanted to promote two new leaders.
- One wanted to be consistently holding six parties a month.
- One wanted to help 3 people hit Team Leader status.
And the list goes on, dot, dot, dot…
I challenge you to begin 2020 with this exercise. Then, take the next steps to achieve your goals and schedule a 30-minute complimentary coaching session. I know from experience it’s hard to do it alone. You’ve heard me talk about the 4 zones in Direct Sales.
- The Struggle Zone. Struggling to get parties and find customers.
- The Stuck Zone. Not moving forward. Not making the money you want.
- The Okay Zone. Feel comfortable. Need to get out of comfort zone.
- The Accelerator Zone. Have clear goals and achieving success one step at a time.
Follow the exercise, create your 2020 Goals, then figure which zone you’re in and message me to learn about my coaching program and we’ll work on your dot, dot, dot…
Here’s to a great 2020 for you and your business! Let’s blow those goals out of the water, dot, dot, dot!
Love & Success to you,
