I would imagine you are well into the season holding parties and enjoying this high selling and recruiting month of October.
I have a little story to tell you this week…
I have been going to our local supermarket for years and I have always felt like they are family. I know the manager, I know many of the check-out people, and I always find what I want. Until last week, I used to think the question they always ask me.. “Did you find everything you want today?” was just something they asked everyone! Until this week!
This week when I got to check-out, I decided I’d get some cash back for the weekend. Usually I go to the ATM, but I’d seen this new feature at check-out and decided I’d try it. Well, the check-out person was somebody I hadn’t seen before. When I got to checkout, she didn’t ask me the question, “Did you find everything you wanted today?” In fact, she said NOTHING –
nada! So, I watched her check out everything – no smile – no words - and stuck my credit card in the holder and decided to add $20 cash back.
Well, next thing I know, I’m getting $80.00 back and I was so surprised. I said, “I don’t want $80, I clicked on the $20.” Well boy, this woman just attacked me and told me… “I can’t change that YOU must have hit $80 button and that’s that.” I was taken back by her attitude towards me. She then asked if I’d like to see the manager, and you bet I wanted to see the
manager! After talking to the manager, I found out this abrupt woman was having troubles at home and it was spilling over in her work, and he would talk to her.
Maybe I hit the wrong button (I don’t think I did), but this EXPERIENCE left me feeling like I really don’t want to go back to that store. I had a bad feeling in my stomach about the way I was treated. And even though the Manager told me she was having troubles, I still had that feeling when I left the store.
I tell you this story because when I talk about offering a WOW Experience for your hostess and guests at your parties, you want them to leave feeling like
- they had FUN with the guests,
- they learned something from you about how to use your wonderful products,
- but most of all they had a very pleasant and memorable EXPERIENCE!
When you follow up with them to thank them for their order, they remember the EXPERIENCE more than anything. The experience is all about how people interact with each other! How you and the hostess make sure everyone is enjoying themselves, interacting, participating with others and is exposed to a positive environment.
When you see this happen at your parties, you know you’ve nailed it and you’ll find everyone there is ready to buy!
Then there are those who love it so much, they want to book a future party with you.
Then there are those who may think it looks like a great way to make a second income and think about joining you.
So, pay attention to the EXPERIENCE you’re offering at your parties! I teach my coaching client to focus on three important things at your parties.
- Make sure people are having fun!
- Make sure everyone is learning something WOW that your product offers.
- Make sure they are having a memorable experience!
But most of all, Pay attention to how people FEEL when they leave your party! It matters! And, more than anything it will lead to more sales, more parties and more prospects.
