One of the big things I find in running a direct sales business today is having tools to help you be purposefully productive. In fact “being purposefully productive” is one of the cornerstones of my coaching because of the myriads of distractions that prevail in today’s online world of social
media.
Being “purposefully productive” helps you move forward with your goals and action plans. So, today I want to share with you THREE organization techniques we use that I hope will be helpful for you.
1. Sunday Planning Routine. Every Sunday I help my peeps go through a specific routine to plan out their upcoming week. We use the DIRECT SALES PLANNER’s weekly success Plan page and we do these five
things
- Set a weekly goal
- Create Action steps around that goal for the week
- Choose the top 3 priorities from the action steps for each day
- Time Block exercise to get those actions accomplished.
- A weekly dinner menu to feel in control knowing what’s for dinner every day.
2. Pomodoro Technique. I use this amazing technique that was developed by a man in Italy who created it and called it Pomodoro because
his timer was the shape of a tomato.
It’s simply setting a timer for 25 minutes. Turn off all distractions, like social media, your phone and work on your tasks. You focus until the timer goes off (remember all FB, emails, are closed off.) When the timer goes off, take a 5 minute break and stop working. They say it’s proven that taking “a brain break” makes you more productive for your next session. It’s basically doing tasks in 25 minute
and getting things done on your to-do list. I love to call these focused times, “POMS.”
My coaching clients who home school are now using it with their kids as well because they found it so powerful. We truly have no idea how easily distracted we get until we monitor it. (It took me ONE POM to write this ezine. ha!)
3. One Notebook System. How much time do you spend, searching for a phone number you wrote on
a piece of paper? Or, digging for an important message from corporate. What about that hot prospect you met last week at a networking event and you can’t find her phone number? Then there is that great idea you want to implement, you wrote it down somewhere, and can’t find it. When this happened to me, I decided to create a system where I NEVER EVER lost pieces of paper that floated on my desk (or in my purse). I came up with a ONE-NOTEBOOK SYSTEM. And now I
use this system every day (kind of like a Bullet Journal) but I teach my coaching clients how to get things done with a specific to-do list for each day of the week, and how to use this notebook so they never ever lose an important piece of paper again. I have a special handout for this system if you’re interested, Click here.
These are just THREE productivity tips we work on in my coaching programs, and the results my clients get from them are amazing. My MASTERMIND client, Alyson Frasier, a new leader at Lemongrass Spa said this week,
THANK YOU for all of the time and effort you put into making handouts, workbooks, graphics, and developing our mastermind sessions.Your materials have made stepping into leadership simple and
achievable without feeling overwhelming. Especially today, as I was creating my New Consultant Training, I was so thankful to have an outline of a successful system which I could make my own. There is no price tag I could put on the guidance and wisdom you share. Thank you so much!
