SEPTEMBER is here! I’m so excited and I hope you are too! So, what’s the story of these two GORGEOUS waiters ready to serve? We got the call that the new restaurant in town called “The Golden Fish” was open for
business and would we come to lunch. Of course, we responded immediately ( as good grandparents jump to attention ) and we had a fantastic experience. The Menus were very attractive and we had choices of PB&J, Ham&Cheese, Avocado&Cheese sandwiches. For dessert we have milk and brownies or fruit platter and Boppa was even served his favorite Heineken. The ukelele came out for a short bit of entertainment and we had probably one of the BEST lunch experiences ever! Stories are powerful
ways to share your experiences with your team to help them know they are supported by you, their leader! They help make you real, authentic and builds team selling, booking and recruiting. FEATURE ARTICLE:
A SUCCESS STORY DRIVING NORTH TO BOULDER, COLORADO
I hear from many team members about running out of family and friends and can’t get bookings on their calendar? This is a story about
arriving in a big city and not knowing a soul. The decision I made was a defining moment in my business that changed the course of my life.
I was very overwhelmed when I first arrived in Denver, Colorado when my husband and I were driving around looking for a place to buy a new home. I was feeling a little depressed because I didn’t know anyone in Denver. Not even one lead. I’d
built a great business so far in Hawaii and it was only six months ago we’d moved from Hawaii to Seattle. After just six months in Seattle, I had created three great leaders and my teams in Seattle and Hawaii were humming.
Now, I found myself in another large city, not knowing a soul, and thinking of ways to meet people to share my wonderful product and business opportunity. I’m
sure you remember your first few months when you started your business. You called your family, your friends, your acquaintances, all the people you had some connection. You held your first launch parties and did a few shows and then those family and friends introduced you to people who you had never met before and this is how your business grew having parties with people who were referred by friends of friends. That’s how it works.
So, here I was in Denver, Colorado and didn’t know anyone and had to make a decision. To make my decision I had to get out of my funk of feeling sorry for myself and wishing I was still back in Seattle or Hawaii, and
find ways to meet people! Little did I know at the time that this ONE DECISION would lead me to build a six-figure income business reaching from Hawaii across the country to Maine!
We bought a lovely home in the south of Denver, and I began my first few months reaching out to meet people and make some friends. I joined a Chamber of Commerce, a business referral group and a
professional business woman’s organization. I had done the work of networking in the south of Denver and made new friends.
I was holding parties nearly every and began recruiting my first Colorado team members. At one of these parties, someone asked me if I would drive to Boulder to do a party! Of course I
answered YES!! I’d never been to Boulder and thought it was probably 20 minutes north along the highway. Little did I realize that it was 50 miles away and I’d be traveling at peak traffic hour which could take me two to two-1/2 hours.
It was a cold winter’s night when I found myself driving north to Boulder. The traffic was horrendous at three o’clock in the afternoon. I’m not a
freeway girl, I much prefer the back roads, but this was the best way to get somewhere I’d never been before. And yes it DID take me two hours in peak traffic along two highways and zig-zagging through neighborhoods to find my Hostesses home. But, oh was this worth it!
This ONE horrendous drive through peak hour traffic driving north to somewhere I’d never been before was a huge
BREAKTHROUGH in building my million-dollar team.
My new hostess became a new recruit who went on to become a top leader in my team and helped me open up areas in north, south, east and west of the whole city of Denver! We developed the TOP Team Leaders in our company all because I had made that decision to get out of my comfort zone and drive north to Boulder.
And there’s more! One of her recruits opened up the WHOLE state of Texas for our team and this one recruit went on to become the NUMBER ONE seller in the company nearly every year! (If she wasn’t number one, she was number two or three – always in the top three!)
Today,
it’s so easy to sit at home and do lots of business online! Facebook parties are becoming the norm, along with zoom meetings and we are not actually getting out of the house to meet new people face to face. I believe your business will grow FASTER and STRONGER when you meet people you’ve never met before face-to-face at an event, be it business or social. It’s your authentic self that attracts people to you and your willingness to get to know someone you’ve never met before, that builds
friendships and relationships at a faster rate.
Social media is an awesome tool to EXPAND relationships by getting to know people, but don’t forget the old fashioned way of shaking someone’s hand and being open to building a new friendship face to face.
The same goes at
your parties! Focus on getting bookings with guests who will open up a whole new circle of business for you!
And lastly, be willing to drive north (or any direction) one, two or even three hours from your home. In actual fact, I was willing to drive ALL around the metropolis of Denver holding parties in unknown areas
I’d never been before. (Those were the days before everyone had their very own GPS. However, I did download my trusty MAPQUEST map.) Most of all, I had the attitude of doing what it takes to open up new circles of business in all directions.
You have to be continually marketing or networking and generating new circles of business. If you put this part of your business on back
burner, you’ll find you will run out of customers and hostesses and your sales income will gyrate up and down every month.
I coach my private clients to draw a circle one hour from your home. How many people do you know in that one-hour radius? We brainstorm how to meet them? Where do they hang out? Then I have them draw the circle another one-hour circle. so they double their
prospective business.
I hope this story clarifies the importance of reaching out to build NEW business in all directions from where you live. Once you build that friendship, you bring them into your sales funnel, so they will try your products, buy your products. Then they’ll want to have a party with YOU and maybe, like me, you'll meet a hostess who CHANGES the course of your
business.
