Making a Decision in your Direct Sales Business

Have you heard the ancient Japanese legend of 1000 cranes? The legend promises anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by the Gods.  Some stories believe you are granted eternal good luck and long life.  The crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures and is said to live for a thousand years:  That is why 1000 cranes are made, one for each year.  So what does this have to do with making a decision?

Well, my #3 daughter is getting married (very soon) and because she has spent a lot of time in Japan and loves everything Japanese, and because she and her husband to be are avid environmentalists, they didn’t want any paper waste at their wedding.  So, we MADE A DECISION to make 200 napkins for all 200 people attending, and that’s what I’ve been doing with most of my weekends.   After we made this decision, I have found my love of sewing creeping back into my life as well as working side by side with my daughter, cutting, sewing, sharing stories and enjoying the whole process.  Making a decision to do something important for your business is what makes you successful. FEATURE ARTICLE: Making a Decision in your Direct Sales Business
 
I’ve been watching my coaching clients very closely in the last few months with awe! I find so many people in today’s world say they “want” something yet, they stop themselves from not getting what they want with millions of excuses and they are not even aware they’re doing it.


And now that I’ve become aware of this and putting the focus on it, I notice those who are willing to step into action and those who are willing to do the work are getting great results.   Then, there are those people who are NOT getting the results they want and wonder why!  And that’s because they are making excuses. These excuses are their escape route and they get frustrated because they never achieve the goal. 

Excuses like,
I can’t do it because my family needs my attention, or
I can’t do it because I don’t have the money right now, or 
I can’t do it because it doesn’t fit into my lifestyle.

What’s really happening here?  Well, I believe people are listening to those inner voices that are mostly self-doubt and they are questioning their ability to move forward in their business.

So many people today want a business where they can make more money or be home with their kids, or move up leadership levels and so many people don’t realize that they can make a change by stop using excuses by

“just making a decision!”

If you want something really badly, I suggest you approach it as if it were are do-or-die situation. And to do that you need to first


MAKE A DECISION,
then
TAKE ACTION!

This is the difference that I see in working with my amazing coaching clients.  Here’s how they are making a difference.

#1  They make firm decisions to succeed.
In our coaching sessions, we strategize, we plan, we create systems but it all comes down to them making their own decisions to “go for it!”

  • “Go for” the trip incentive, or
  • "Go for” sponsoring a strong personal team, or
  • “Go for” being one of the top 10 sales people in the company, or
  • “Go for” boosting their income to $5,000, or
  • “Go for” finding more leaders to promote
#2  Once they’ve made that decision, they make a plan. Planning is about looking ahead and looking for the outcome and results from making that decision.  We lay out a plan together and it’s my job to keep them accountable to that plan, so we check-in often with each other even in between our sessions.

#3  They are open to working that plan with the best possible systems and strategies. Sometimes we have to make adjustments and they are willing to realize that something didn’t work, but they keep going.

#4  They take action consistently. We work around the four quadrants of a direct sales business.

  •  Recruiting or sharing their business opportunity is the top activity.
  • Next area is their commitment to holding consistent parties.
  • In The third
    area they make it a priority to always, working on finding new clients, new hostesses, to keep expanding their business,
  • and the fourth area is their fortune follow
    system that keeps them on track and building important relationships with their customers, hostesses and team members.
#5  Most of all instead of saying, “I can’t afford it,”  or “I can’t fit it in right now” they find ways to move things around to make it happen!  And this is what makes me so proud of them.

I once heard someone describe it this way. If you can’t get out the front door, you go to the back door and if that’s locked too, you look for a window to open, if they are closed tight, you have to find a way and that’s what it’s about –

Making a Decision and finding a way to make it happen!

As we head into March, think about a decision you are waffling on to grow your direct sales business.  What excuses are you telling yourself?  Are you saying you can’t afford it? Are you saying you’re too busy?

It comes down to being WILLING to act differently. Making that decision about what you truly want in your business and saying YES to the opportunity that awaits you when you make that decision.

And then, taking action. I will tell you your business, your income will CHANGE for the better if you make that decision and take action!
