January seems to be over in a “flash” and after you’ve set those amazing goals and even written out
specific action steps, you look at January results and eek.. they’re not where you want them to be!
Life Happens! You had big plans and …
Three parties
cancelled.
Your missed your sales goal by half.
Two team members dropped out.
A family situation took your eye off the ball
You miscalculated one of your leader’s numbers.
Yikes! It’s these “life happens” events that play havoc with your mindset and you begin to have doubts and second thoughts about the
goals you’ve set. Your plan is to GROW BIG in 2017!
And that’s the very reason why now is the time to stay on track with those goals. You’ve heard the saying, “Where the rubber meets the road..” This means it’s that time when it really counts, or that moment of truth! And it is
precisely defined by your mindset in being an entrepreneur!
I remember the first time I realized I didn’t want to work for someone else! At my day job I was always thinking about owning my own business, and couldn’t wait for the day to end so I could plan my own business.
I was a busy mom with three teenagers and keeping all three in private school was draining the college savings. I “had” to work but I was tired of clocking in and out and being on someone else’s time. The same was happening with one of my best friends, and we decided to get creative and start our own business. Top criteria was, we “had” to make money! We didn’t have any kind of start
up money for a big enterprise. But we had a vision and we mapped out a plan and as that plan began to take shape we took a leap of faith and both quit our full-time jobs!
And yes, it was scary, and yes, there was no safety net if it didn’t work out, but we kept focused on the plan – or
the road ahead we had mapped out. There were times when “life happened”, but we were determined to make it work! That’s why I have 3 simple steps you can use to help you stay on track and keep your mindset focused on definitely achieving the goals you want in 2017.
Step#1 Swim in your own lane. Competitive swimmers dive in and swim as fast as they can to reach the end of the pool. They don’t look to their left or to their right, they make a huge splash
and stay in their lane and come out of the water ready to celebrate!
Take that analogy and keep your eyes peeled on that lane ahead. Remember WHY you are part of this amazing industry. Think about the fun, friendship, fellowship and financial rewards. Most of all remember as an entrepreneur
you have FREEDOM. You have the freedom to work as hard as you want, freedom to be home with your kids, and freedom to choose your own hours.
You set your goals and laid out your path for 2017, don’t look to the left or the right, stay true to you and keep swimming to the end of the pool in your own lane and get ready to celebrate because you stayed true to your goals taking action.
Step #2Focus on the ONE THING. Each day your head spins from this shiny object to that shiny object, from this idea to that idea. Keep your focus on ONE THING, the basics of
our business which is to
sell (holding parties)
book (future parties)
recruit (people who want to hold parties)
Every day, ask yourself,
“What ONE thing am I doing today to sell, book or recruit in my business?”
In the book, “The One Thing,” by Gary Keller, he says to “figure what matters most and give it your undivided attention. When things that matter most get done – you get extraordinary results!”
Step #3 Check in with your coach. The leaders at the top don’t do it alone. They know they need help. The moment I invested in a coach is when my path was guaranteed for my success to hit the million dollar level and eventually the number one position in the country. I remember the day I made the decision to hire a coach with such clarity because I finally opened my mind to learning new ideas and new ways to be successful and they came to
me in huge bursts. The coaching clients I have the privilege to work with also share these thoughts with me. They open their minds to learning strategies and systems never would have thought of alone. This speeds up their success. A coach is a powerhouse to have on your success team.
