December is here! It is the TOP SOCIAL MONTH of the year. In December you meet interesting people at holiday parties, neighborhood events, your husbands office party, holiday fairs and even
walking through the malls. It is that time of year when people are the most friendly and engage in conversation. I heard all about the interesting people from my two grandsons last week after their grand trip to Disneyland for Thanksgiving.
In our business it’s important to make these
NEW CONNECTIONS and be prepared to get to know people and open the door to them about your business. Read my important FEATURE ARTICLE below this week on being prepared to connect with your very own powerful story.

FEATURE ARTICLE: What's your Powerful Story?
When you meet someone for the first time and you make a connection, you want to be prepared to share your powerful story. It’s the story you share
when someone asks you “what do you do?”
I coach my clients to use their powerful story at the opening of every party. It’s this opening that is packed with information on
why you joined
why you love what you do, and
what a difference your business has made for you and your family.
When you share these three elements you’re sending a strong powerful message and people listen.
It’s
the attraction factor. We work on sharing these three elements from your heart! There’s nothing more superficial than someone who sprouts out information that sounds like they've memorized it from rote. So it’s important to think about what you truly do love about your business and make your story authentic and real. When you share from your heart, you are genuine and this builds trust.
In this busy holiday month when you are socializing and meeting many people, your story may be the reason that attracts new customers, new hostesses and maybe even a person who's interested in joining your team.
To prepare your powerful story, make it short and compelling. Your purpose is to give a quick and confident introduction so people
get to know you and your business. Once you have established a connection, then you exchange information and it’s in the follow-up where you attract a new client. Here’s a quick way to begin.
When someone says, “What do you do?” Use a quick one-liner.
“I own my own home based ( fashion) business!” It’s short and sweet and it prompts people to ask you a question, which is
usually..
“Oh really, what kind of fashion business?”
That’s when you add a little more information. I help people (women) - this is your grab their attention story – make it short, interesting that prompts them to ask another question. e.g.
“I love helping women find the right outfit in a unique home shopping
experience. We focus on a wardrobe solution with 10 pieces of clothing.”
You’ve added another piece of information that is prompting them to ask more questions. And, so the conversation continues back and forth, and it’s this back and forth that is building a friendship connection. People are interested in what you do.
The power comes when you add how your business has made
a difference in your life and family.
“I am so thankful for my business because it has allowed me to pay for my kids college tuition and with three kids in college at once, it has been a struggle.”
Perhaps you’re a stay at home mom and you share how you love the flexibility of building your business around your family. The person
you’re having a conversation with might ask you a question how that works. She wants more information so you’ll know she’s interested in you and your business.
You might share how you love the friendships and camaraderie of being part of a great team and company, and the person you’re talking with may want that too.
Your powerful story reflects who you are, why
you love what you do and when you’re meeting people at lots of functions and events over the holidays, you want to be prepared.
As I said December is the top social month of the year! People are smiling, they are ready to engage, and they are relaxed and get your attention when your story is powerful.
December is also the month when people are
looking for NEW and different opportunities, so your powerful story that shares why you love what you do, may be that opportunity they are looking for.
Make December your month to get confident with your powerful story and make those wonderful lifetime connections that come from sharing why you love what you do.
