A reminder, that each month I’m sharing a book review. My pick for July is one of my
favorites that I talk about a lot with my clients.
The wind has picked up, and clouds are forming and we’re expecting some weather from one of our first hurricane’s to approach the islands this hurricane season. We are blessed that hardly any make a direct hit, but we do love the rain that feeds our islands.
When weather hits, it’s time to stay home and take stock of your reading material. Reading is a great way to increase your professional development . The books in the picture above are books I refer to over and over again. They are books that helped me gain insights, have mind shifts and played a crucial role in building my million-dollar team.
Social media is the great distraction in today’s world, but, of course where would be without it! On this week’s blog, I’m sharing 5 Ways to add value with a VIP CUSTOMER Facebook group that will help you stand out like a “Purple Cow.” Click here to read the blog.
Now, let’s discuss this month’s book
Purple Cow by Seth Godin
Many of my clients (and you know who you are) are heading off to their conventions this week, and one of the team building exercises we
work on is finding ONE word to express admiration for team members! ONE WORD in front of their peers can build their confidence and make them feel like a truly valued team member. If there’s one word that describes this book it’s
REMARKABLE!
Seth Godin
says, “What you need to build your business and your brand is to BE REMARKABLE!”
In today’s world of online bright shiny objects and hyped advertising, what you need to stand out from the crowd is to build your brand with a remarkable product or service. He says you’re either a PURPLE COW or you’re not!
When I first read this book, I was a top leader in a Fashion Company and our company had a “remarkable” message. We had a fantastic wardrobe solution that no other fashion company was sharing. Not even the big guys, like Nordstrom or Nieman’s were offering the remarkable wardrobe solution we offered women at home parties.
Think about how “you” can you take your product and service and make yourself remarkable! Here are three suggestions to begin.
#1 Start by making a list of why people would want your product. We do this in our L.E.A.P. Group coaching program. Get a list going and ask yourself,
How do my products make my customers “feel?”
What do my products do to improve my customer’s “Lifestyle?”
What solutions do my products offer my
customers?
Once you have your list together start sharing these remarkable qualities at your parties, on social media, at networking events and everywhere you go.
#2 How would you tweak your current party demonstration to make it more remarkable? I call this creating a “WOW” Party experience, and share 8 steps to improve your party experience, so people will
say, “Wow, I had such a fantastic time tonight, I want to book my own fantastic party!” Working on having a “remarkable” party experience will help you have $1,000 plus party sales every time! Listen to the 8 steps in this CD and be known as the
person who holds a remarkable WOW PARTY experience.
#3 Who is the top recruiter in your company or on your team? What makes this person “remarkable?” What does this person do that makes people want to join your company and be on a journey with her in direct sales? What can you learn from this top recruiter to improve your recruiting skills to become a top
recruiter? Or maybe you're ready to dive into my Recruiting Blueprint Home Study Course.
Seth Godin says in the book, “My goal in Purple Cow is to make it clear that it’s safer to be risky –
to fortify your desire to do truly amazing things.”
If you haven’t read this book, pick it up very soon and put on the “Purple Cow” thinking hat. This book is an inspiring self-help book for direct sales entrepreneurs to help you step it up in your business to be REMARKABLE and noticed! And that’s when your business takes off!
Books give you information and information can change your life. In my coaching programs, we work on many of the ideas that are shared in this book to help you grow a thriving team.
