Oh yes, another birthday has passed and I am grateful I get to enjoy my gorgeous grandsons as they grow like weeds every week.  Thanks to ALL of you who posted greetings on my Facebook wall.  I so appreciate the love!

5 Ways to Engage with your Team
How many team members
  • do you hear from once in a while?
  • don’t want to be bothered?
  • you don’t know if they are alive or not?
  • respond to you and never do anything?
  • suck up a lot of your time but don’t take action?


The list goes on.  These are the questions I hear over and over

“How do I engage my team?”
“How do I get my team to respond to me?”
“How do I get my team to attend my team meetings?”
“How do I get more team members to take action?”

Which one of these resonates with you?  Circle one (or more) above. 

The answer to this question is ENGAGEMENT!  How do you engage?  Here’s the formula

CONNECT = COMMUNICATE = CONSISTENTLY

#1 ENGAGE VIA PHONE
If you want your team to engage with you, pick up the phone! This is one way many leaders don’t follow through with.  They think because they are chatting on social media, texting or emailing, that’s enough.  Believe me leaders, the best way to support and encourage your team is to ‘TALK’ to them on the telephone.  It may seem old fashioned in today’s tech world, but the tone of your voice and the conversations that evolve from a simple phone call breaks through barriers and leads to immediate success!   Immediate success, might be when a team member heard your voice praising her for her super power and because she “heard” it from you, it motivates her to take action!

 
The TEAM communication strategy in the Calendar Girls Team Booking System teaches you how to connect with a team member “before” and “after” her party.  When you know who is holding parties each week and communicate with them via the telephone, you will find extremely positive engagement with your team.
#2  ENGAGE VIA SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is a fantastic tool to engage and support your team.  It helps build deeper relationships with each of your team members and it helps the team get to know each other as well.  Create a SECRET TEAM Facebook page.  Make this page their go-to place to ask questions, get answers and have total access to you.  Remind everyone to keep this a place that is positive and professional. No complaining. 

Leaders are role models on social media.  You can make a fantastic impact on publicly recognizing each team member with their successes in their business.  In the Calendar GIRLS team booking system, our motto is EVERYONE CONTRIBUTES, so you are able to recognize those who do one party a month or ten parties a month.   Recognizing success in front of their peers in this special Facebook Group builds their confidence. 

Get organized with your Team posts.  Set up a schedule for posts Monday thru Friday and on weekends.  Ask questions, share quotes, recognize and praise team members, and share your team goals often!  Keep the team focused on your team goals and they will engage and get into the spirit of helping the team achieve goals every month!

#3  ENGAGE VIA VIDEO
Video is another fantastic way to engage with your team.  The best engagement is sharing short 3 to 5 minute videos.   Create short training snippets to share with your team every week.  Especially training on product knowledge.  The team needs your wisdom on how to sell the products at their parties and continuous short videos each week where you “show” them ways to share the products will keep them engaged and loving your support and encouragement.

Video is also a power platform to attract new members to your team.  Use video to share your experiences, your stories, your life as a leader.  It’s these simple stories that will inspire your team members to invite prospects to be part of your wonderful team.

#4   ENGAGE WITH THE WRITTEN WORD
The written word today is usually via an email.  I’m talking about a newsletter.  In the CALENDAR GIRLS Team booking system we follow a “Weekly Monday Newsletter” template where team members are recognized with their names IN PRINT!  Their successes are praised, their milestones are recognized and because it’s consistent every week, team members are anxious to receive this email.  A weekly newsletter means they are also reading the latest upcoming events so they will know how to be engaged and not miss out on important training and meetings.  You’ll find this form of communication engages them to take action and not miss important TEAM events.

Another powerful form of the written word to engage your team is to write “Handwritten” notes of appreciation.  A simple hand-written note from you, their leader, can have a huge impact on gaining great team players.
 
#5  ENGAGE WITH TEAM EVENTS
TEAM EVENTS are another powerful way to engage your team.  Holding a LIVE Team meeting every month where the team comes together to meet and greet, to look each other in the eye, to have body language that builds friendships.  Even if most of your team are out of state, hold a LIVE team meeting with just you and two people, and it will grow!   There is nothing that will engage your team more than meeting and greeting team members face to face. 

Of course, if you have a large team spread across the country, (like I did), then you’ll want to use other platforms where they can be together via teleconference calls, and live streaming video connections.  As a leader you want to make these events FUN, informative and a place of learning.  I held my LIVE Team meeting on a Saturday morning and I held the same content on Sunday evening with a Teleconference for team members who were out of state.  With today’s technology you can now include team members online to be part of LIVE Team meetings.

Other events that are extremely important are
  • TEAM “Take a Look” events to bring their prospects and get to hear about your fabulous opportunity.
  • TEAM TRAINING especially for New Recruits engages new team members from the get-go,
  • TEAM Booking blitz event where the whole team actively participates in a team contest builds the fun and that feeling of BELONGING to a fantastic team of positive and inspired people.

Remember the formula?
CONNECTION = COMMUNICATE = CONSISTENCY

Keeping this formula in mind, the key to IMPLEMENTING THESE 5 WAYS is the CONSISTENCY part. 

You can say, I’m doing the FIVE ways you’re suggesting, Gale, but it’s still not working. 

Ask yourself, “Am I connecting and communicating "CONSISTENTLY?”

Engage with your team CONSISTENTLY, every week via these five ways and you’ll find the relationships you build with your team members will deepen.  Most of all THEY will blossom and grow!  When you have a team of people who blossom and grow, you have a WINNING TEAM!

In my L.E.A.P. Group Coaching Program we are doing a series of training on PRODUCTIVITY TIPS FOR LEADERS.  One of the best productivity tips I recommend is learning how to EAT YOUR FROG!

IT’S BEEN said that our WILL power reduces as the day goes along.  That’s why it’s important you read Brian Tracy’s Book, "Eat That Fog," to help you stop procrastinating about the important things that need to get done.   This is a mindset thing and we all suffer from some kind of procrastination. 

Brian’s book  is full of 21 ways to stop procrastination and get more done in LESS time.

This book is part of my arsenal of time management books.  My favorite one is #20 which is to develop a sense of urgency. He says, “when you work on your most important tasks first, you get into an amazing mental state called FLOW.”

and, I’M ALL ABOUT WORK FLOW!     He says, "The state of flow is the highest human state of  productivity.  And when you get in this state of flow you feel elated and have great clarity. Everything you do seems effortless and you feel happy and energized."

If you don’t have this book, I highly recommend it. It will be a big game changer for you in 2016 to improve your productivity.
