It’s back to BUSINESS!   School is in session and routines are back to normal.  This weekend the boys had a sleepover and brought their bikes.  They are happy in their new routines starting Kindergarten and Second Grade.  They have made the shift effortlessly and easily and ready to learn the next step in their life.

This month’s feature article is all about making that shift in your business.   September is like a new year.  It’s a new season, it’s the beginning of the most productive months in our business, so it’s time to make some decisions.  How long have you been wanting to be a top seller, earn that company incentive trip, move to the next level of leadership or promote out new leaders?  Read my 10 top tips below that will help you make that shift in growing your business as we head into the productive, golden months of the year.

 Time to Make a Shift
I spent the last two weeks sharing my “Ready to Launch” campaign with my coaching and corporate clients.   I believe the next four months of the year are the most productive and lucrative time of the year for direct sales entrepreneurs everywhere in the world.

September is like the beginning of a new year when we are ready to get back to business.  It’s that time of year when people are getting back to regular routines.  Kids are back in school, schedules are on track and everyone is focused on their daily tasks. 

It’s also the time when events are scheduled on the calendar.  People know what to expect in September, October, November and December.  In fact, there are more social events scheduled in these 4 months than any other time of the year. 

As a direct sales entrepreneur that means you have the opportunity to meet new customers, new hostesses and new team members everywhere you go.

It’s time to put your plans in place and strategize to grow your business. 

I am always pumped at this time of year in September!  How about you?   Are you feeling high on the fantastic energy you received at a recent convention, conference or workshop you’ve taken and ready to make some changes?

Change is an emotional process, and the word “change” to some people denotes uncharted waters which for some is scary and frightening. 

Instead of “change,” I believe all you have to do is make a “SHIFT.”   Maybe you’re willing to make a small “shift” that has an enormous impact on your business.  Maybe you realize the “shift” has to be more substantial for you to get what you want from your business.

There’s a saying by author & speaker, Jim Rohn,

”If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got.”

September is ready!  You are ready, and NOW is the BEST time to make “your” shift.  Here are my 10 tips to help you make that shift and step into your success.

Tip #1  Be authentic and real.   As I said above, you’re going to be meeting people everywhere you go, who are “looking” for your products and your opportunity. So, be sure you look and act like a women in business.  Never leave your home without looking the part a serious entrepreneur.  Be open and approachable and keep that lovely smile on your face that attracts others to want to get to know you. Become a good listener, and be present and in the moment when conversing with people.  Be the real deal.  Be authentic and build valuable relationships one person at a time. The next four months of the year is the best time to make a “shift” and expand and grow your client and hostess lists

Tip #2  Feed your mind.  Go to work on “you.”  Begin a reading program of personal growth and development.  Sign up for training and workshops that will enhance your learning to grow as a leader.   Learn how to master the skills that will take you to the top of your company and increase your profit center.  Turn your car into a classroom and listen to CD’s or MP3’s on running a successful business.  Want to find where you’re at in your business?  Take a few short minutes and determine where you’re at in my  “Finding the Gap” assessment, and schedule a 30 minute complimentary coaching session.  Download it here.

Tip #3  Get trained!  Take the time to attend all training available to you.  Attend a team meeting, be on every teleconference offered by your company. Seek out extra help from experts in the industry.  Hire a coach or mentor to help you shift your business to the next level.  Take urgent action on knowing how to be the best.  Hone your skills in every aspect of your business.  Again, “Find the Gap” assessment will help you master knowing how to be a strong seller or a strong recruiter in your business. 

Tip #4  Set a goal to get to the next level.  Figure out what you have to do to sell more, recruit more, become a leader or rise to the next level of leadership.  Study other leaders’ success.   Look for the gap in your business that will help you make the shift.  Download “Find the Gap” assessment here.


Tip #5  Get organized with your office.  Clear your clutter!  Make your office “user” friendly so your business will flow.  If you’re working off your dining room table, maybe it’s time to shift your perspective and buy a new desk and be serious about your business. Use a planner (like the Direct Sales Planner) that works for direct sellers, where you schedule bookings, track parties and recruiting appointments.  Become known as the person who books fabulous “wow” parties using the calendar confidence system and have people clamouring to be on your calendar.   Getting organized with your office and planner could be that tipping point that makes the shift for you right now!

Tip #6  Get on the phone!  The phone is a crucial part of your business.  Make pact with yourself to USE the phone more in the next four months.  Organize your phone time calling customers, hostesses, prospects and team members.   Use tools that help you become more efficient, like my “20 calls Weekly Call Worksheet” system.  (Email me for the handout)

Tip #7  Pay attention to your “Attraction Factor!”   Attracting new customers and team members is everything in direct sales. You’re in the relationship business and you want to sell your product, book parties, and recruit people on your team every week!  Learn how to consistently feed new customers through my attraction factor method, and you’ll make that shift you want this season.  Email mymentorbiz@gmail.com if this is the shift you want.

Tip #8  Win all incentives!   Be aware of all company and team incentives.  Strive to win them all.  Incentives are designed to build your business!  When you win every incentive you will have a very profitable business and you’ll be maximizing your income AND you’ll move effortlessly into making the shift you want.

Tip #9  Know that there are times you’ll be discouraged.  DON’T QUIT!  Find your passion and keep going.  Believe!  Believe in your FABULOUS product and FANTASTIC opportunity.  Know there is so much room at the top.  All it takes is FOCUS AND CONSISTENCY that will help you shift to the top.

Tip #10  Get clear on what you want!  Ask yourself what qualities would I like to be known for?  Generosity, contribution, leadership, fun?  How much income do I really want? Here is a powerful truth from the author of “The Zen of Listening.” 
Only 7 percent of thought content is carried by words alone.  We derive 93 percent (!!!) of what a person “means” by gestures, voice tone and facial expression.  Because so much is lost through email or texting, we are setting ourselves up for a degree of miscommunication and mistrust never before imagined.” 

As leaders we must pay attention to LISTENING MORE and COMMUNICATING MORE through the voice (on the phone) or face to face (at a meeting.)  In email and texting, so much get’s lost in translation and interpretation.  We set ourselves up for a degree of miscommunication and mistrust when we leave our communications solely to through the word. 

As leaders today, my best recommendation is to TALK TO YOUR TEAM on the telephone, via skype or better yet, meet them FACE TO FACE for coffee or lunch to gain the TRUST that is needed in building a successful team of people who support each other and love each other.

I believe this book should  be required reading for every leader in Direct Sales.  We spend so much time today reading texts, emails and watching videos, and webinars, it seems like we’re losing that face to face connection that helps us truly build deep relationships.

This book is my best recommendation this year for LEADERS who want to build million dollar teams.
