ALL of my coaching clients know how often I talk about (maybe even "nag" a little :) the importance of having a strategy to get new customers, hostesses and recruit or prime prospect leads consistently every month. When you run
out of family and friends, and you keep inviting back the same hostesses you know it’s time to get out and meet new people to share your fabulous products and business opportunity.
And that’s when we sit back in that big old comfort zone and think we are stuck, or we say to ourselves
- Nobody is interested in my products
- I don’t want to make those calls, I know she’ll say “no.”
- I’m an introvert and don’t want to meet new people
- I don’t live near anyone who would be interested in my
opportunity
- It’s hard to meet people and share my biz opportunity
These are those little nagging conversations that go back and forth in your head. You hide behind your computer "hoping" someone will email you soon and consequently your business stagnates.
I teach my coaching clients a specific marketing strategy that I call the “7 Slice Marketing Pie.” It’s basically working in seven areas to meet people, develop relationships and get new customers, get more bookings and introduce your business opportunity.
If you’re in network marketing you can also use this strategy to discipline yourself to book recruiting appointments and presentations every week following this pie chart.
Marketing is simply spreading the word about your business. Now, many of you may be thinking, how do I do this with everything else I’m
doing?
Well, here’s the deal,
- When you’re holding a party you’re marketing.
- When you’re working with a hostess you’re marketing.
- When you meet someone new at a networking event you’re marketing.
- When someone refers some to you, it’s a result of your marketing.
- When you’re on social media you’re marketing.
- When you hand out catalogues and biz cards
you’re marketing.
So, my seven-sliced marketing party pie is to remind you to pay attention in each one of these areas to conversations and effective methods to meet new people. It's in each one of these areas that you have the opportunity to build new relationships and make new friends. It’s a strategy to discipline yourself to actively work in these
seven areas every week. I share with you effective ways to generate new leads and we create a specific schedule or checklist to follow, so you never feel like your running out of people to call or connect with to keep your business consistent.
When you have a marketing strategy, you create a plan that let’s prospective clients find you.
The reason I wanted to share this with you today is to help you become aware of what you’re doing to get more sales, more bookings and finding new recruit leads. If you’re struggling because you’re running out of customers, or your sales and bookings are low, it means you don’t have a strategic plan to spread the word about your
business.
Look over the SEVEN SLICES of this marketing party pie and check which one is missing in your business!
One big scrumptious slice of this pie is for networking, both online an offline. You know I’m a huge proponent of networking
"offline" in groups like Chambers of Commerce and business referral networking groups. Here’s some tips that I use with my clients.
- Research local networking groups in your area
- Get prepared to attend these groups using a powerful introduction
- Have your business cards on hand
- Be interested in them FIRST, and introduce yourself FIRST
- Be disciplined to be out of your house twice a week to meet NEW customers, hostesses and recruit leads.
Networking "online" is another key strategy. Get on a lot of interest groups on Facebook. Add lots of value and contribute to these groups. Over time, as people get to know you, you can ask them to be your “friend.” This happened to me just this week. I asked the person how she knew me, and she mentioned the Facebook group we were in. Once you are “friends” then build that friendship with an online conversation
and get to know them FIRST. Don’t ask them to join or book with you first. Build the friendship first!
Remember when networking, some will be interested and some won’t. I look at networking as developing new friends. You take the time to get to know them and find a commonality between you before you go further. I have made some great new friends through
taking the time to getting to know people online and offline and many of them went further and became customers, hostesses, and joined my team.
BOTTOM LINE, when your create your own "marketing pie" for your business, and follow a plan and strategy that allows you to get your message out, you’ll always have NEW customers, NEW hostesses, NEW recruit leads coming through your
door on a consistent basis.
