Setting Goals: A 90-Day Challenge
There are numerous studies that show success is a direct correlation of setting goals. I am a big believer in writing down your goals and am amazed how many goals I set come to pass. I actually take it one step further creating specific action steps for the objective and find this is a key
strategy to achieving my goals.
One of the secrets to growing my million-dollar team was working in a 90-day time period. My first 90-day challenge was to grow my team to 20 people. I found 90 days was the right amount of time to plan, create action steps and execute the plan, so I got into the habit of working with 90 days as my team grew from its first
year of sales all the way to the million dollar level.
I have since taken that 90-day strategy and now teach it to my coaching clients with a special exercise that allows them to focus and stay accountable to the goal for the whole 90 days.
The key to achieving a
90-day goal is to keep it simple. Studies show that it’s difficult to focus on more than five to seven things at one time. I recommend setting the goal and writing down your specific actions steps on a 5x7 card so they are easily accessible to look at every day. Make sure the steps you write are “actionable.” That means you want to begin each step with an action verb such as “Achieve” “Complete” “Meet”
“Call.”
It’s important to make your 90-day goals measurable. Your action steps will determine whether or not you can accomplish your objective within the time period.
Always make your 90-day goals attainable. Be realistic with the actions you need
to take. Sometimes you may have to stretch yourself, but if it’s attainable over the 90-day time period, it’s still achievable.
Lastly, it’s important to prioritize your 90-day goals and action steps. Sometimes this is difficult as the most important step may be the one that is pushing
you out of your comfort zone. However, you’ll know if you achieve this ONE difficult action, the rest will be a dream. So, prioritize the most difficult one first.

You can have all the knowledge and skills in knowing what to do, but when you mindset takes over your thoughts, we find it harder to reach the goal.
