Prepare for a Hurricane of Business.

I was so proud of our State of Hawaii this past week when not one,
but TWO hurricanes passed over our
beautiful islands. This was a real test for the islands and you can see my neighbor's tree in this picture that fell right in his front yard missing his house by inches!
The leadership
and services offered by the state officials and services helped residents and
thousands of tourists feel safe and organized.
The key to the success for both of these weather phenomena was in their
"readiness" and "planning."
How does this apply
to you and your business? Well, I
believe August is a PIVOTAL month in direct sales when we must be in a
state of "readiness" and preparedness for the upcoming "BUSY" Season of the year.
Do you realize there
are only 120 days til the end of 2014? It's not just ANY 120 days, it's the most productive time of the year. I call it the "golden" time of the year
because people are ENGAGED! They are
engaged in
- a busy routine - kids a
back to school and life gets back to normal
- family events - from Labor
day on the "golden" time events are scheduled on their schedule
- social events - there are
more scheduled in the "golden" time than any other time of the year. Social
events means you as a business owner have the opportunity to GROW new
customers, hostesses and team members.
- It's the biggest gift
giving time of the year, so people are ready to buy your products, and
have parties at their homes.
- People are engaged in
looking for ways to earn income to pay for this busy time, so it's one of
the best times of the year to recruit new people
Successful
entrepreneurs start every year by creating an annual plan and follow it through
each quarter of the year. During
this pivotal month of August, they focus on the reality of where they're at in
their business. That's why AUGUST is the month to prepare and be ready for the
upcoming 120 days of the year. It's the
time to tweak and adjust to where you are now and where you dream to go by
December 31, 2014.
So, in honor of Iselle missing the islands, here are FIVE
questions to ask yourself and be
ready for a "hurricane" of business in the next 120 days.
#1 Where do you want to be in your business by
December 31, 2014? Has your yearly
goal changed? Is it time to re-group and
focus on the reality of what you CAN achieve by the end of the year? Now is the time to prepare.
#2 How will you take action? Write out some key action steps that will
help you achieve your new reality goal by December 31, 2014.
#3 What is your weekly work pattern? Part of your action plan for success is
knowing what to focus on that moves us ahead.
There are three important activities to work every day, no matter what, that will
help you develop a work pattern or routine.
These three activities are
- Booking
Parties
- Recruiting
Appointments
- Follow-up
#4 How will you overcome obstacles? Oh how we wish life would
sail along and not present any obstacles.
What will you when you hit a bump in the road or when something makes
you feel uncomfortable? This is a big
question to ask yourself and remember to follow the mymentorbiz mantra W.I.T.A.
(Whatever it takes approach) to running your business.
#5 What type of accountability will you set for
yourself and your team? Yes, you
are free to be an entrepreneur and work those flexible hours around your busy
lifestyle, but if you don't have an accountability program or "someone" to hold
you accountable, you'll find life gets in the way every time. Of course, the best accountability program is
to hire a coach, or find an accountability partner who is as committed as you
are.
Taking
the time to review your goals and check to see if they are still relevant is
the best thing you could do for your business NOW, in August. Remember one-third of the
year is still left, and a lot can be accomplished in the next 120 days
especially because it's the busiest time of the year.
