Important Connections that Bring you Business.

Aloha Friends,

It was National Dessert Day last week on October 14^th in France, so I decided to make one of my favorite iconic Aussie desserts for my Mahjong group. I made Lamingtons. They are a simple sponge cake dipped in chocolate icing and liberally sprinkled with coconut. I looked it up and it is believed to have been created by a maid-servant to Lord Lamington, who was the British 8^th governor of Queensland. I could write a book about a maid-servant and Lord Lamington, but that’s for another day. Here’s what I posted on my Instagram stories. Do you like my checker board?

This week I want to talk about IMPORTANT connections.

How often are you connecting with customers, friends, new contacts, and contacts?.

I hear clients say, “I haven’t connected in a while and now it’s too late.” They feel like it would be rude to reach out and say, “How are you doing.” I wonder what would happen if you sent a handwritten note, or a friendly text that said “how are you?” The point is it’s NEVER too late to make those important connections.

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO CONNECT

Since my husband’s illness, I feel like I’ve been coming out of a fog and I’m back to making those important connections because I love my clients, my friends.

Here's who I connected with this week.....

I zoomed with a New Zealand friend who I trained in Undercover and found out she’s making bears for people from their loved one’s clothes and she’s creating an APP for a new business start-up.
I connected with a new friend on Instagram who I met in a co-working group, and we set up a time to chat. I’m looking forward to getting to know her.
I connected with my very best MASTERMIND friend. We met in a mastermind 10 years ago and have stayed connected all these years. She’s a relationship coach and we help each other brainstorm ideas on coaching systems and strategies.
I met a dear friend for coffee just to catch up on LIFE! It was fun and so interesting to hear what’s happened in her life and she was excited to hear about the change in my business.

Are you making important connections regularly?

One of my favorite books in my business library is “The Referral of a Lifetime” by Tim Templeton. He encourages you to make a list of people you know and that usually comes to about 250 people. He says if you take care of 250 people consistently and build solid relationships with 250 people

by taking an interest in them
really getting to know them
keeping in touch with them,
keeping in contact with them regularly
sending them hand written notes often
being a true friend and commenting on social media

If 250 people who know you as a professional, trustworthy person and they enjoy you, and they REFER ONE PERSON to you, the potential for FUTURE BUSINESS is mind-boggling!
