#6 Share stories. Customers love to read stories about your life and the connection between managing your business and your life. Here’s a story I shared in my Fashion Tips newsletter:
“I’ve been researching fashion this month and I recently read about Josephine Bonaparte. She was a woman of influence. Josephine was fastidious about grooming. She had a personal pedicurist, manicurist, masseuse, and hairstylist. She had 4 maids a personal servant and a wardrobe mistress attend to her daily. Makeup. She cared
for her skin using face masks, emollients and astringent cleansers. To enhance her features she used face powder, rouge & skin whiteners. She purchased the famous Marie Antoinette pearls for 250,000 francs and to raise the money she had a sideline business, secretly trafficking in army contracts. On the day she was crowned empress, it was claimed she outshone her entire entourage. She was a woman of energy, foresight and determination.”
#7 Share favorite Books. I love a great book list and your customers do too. Share what you’re currently loving and ask what they are reading too. Here's my latest blog post on 5 books I recommend you read this summer.
#8 Check in and request a reply. They get tired of seeing, buy this, buy that. Be genuine with a simple, “Hey, how are you?” This one question is a great potential for conversation.
#9 Highlight a Hostess. With her permission, share the details of the party. What she did to get the “right” people to the party. How they had so much fun, what they learned and the rewards your hostess received.
#10 Create a quiz. Everyone loves a good quiz. This is great research to find out what your customers love about your type of products. I have a quiz about Finding the Gap in your business. Here’s the link.
I recommend you send two customer emails a month and remember when you write them, think you are writing to a friend. When you write to a friend it makes your customers feel like you are interested in them.
