It made me re-think about how much social media is sucking a lot of our time when we could be meeting people, having face to face conversations, making eye contact, smiling at each other, and building stronger relationships.
In fact, the real reason I’m writing about this subject today is because I hear from so many people who are getting OFF social media, or taking a short break from it.
Their reasons? Many are getting locked out of their accounts. Many are getting hacked and have no recourse to get their old accounts back, so have to start over. You are building your business on platforms you don’t own and could go away tomorrow. The algorithm keeps changing and who knows who is watching or reading. And, it seems like you have to PAY
(use ads) if you really want to be seen.
What I had at my dinner party, was what we call the “human connection” meeting people and having a delightful “experience.” I recently read the average amount of time Americans spend on social media is 144 minutes per day! WOW! Here are some reasons to think about running your business without social media.
- Instead of spending time posting and scrolling on social media, you could use that time to talk to a customer and find out if she loves your products. You could use my 20 connects weekly system to connect with the “FABULOUS 5.”
- You could join an offline networking event and practice introducing yourself meeting people face to face.
- You could spend 30 minutes a day reading for personal development. My latest read is “Discipline” by Daniel Walter (A great read!)
- You might enjoy privacy for a while, not letting everyone know what you had for breakfast, lunch and dinner or producing a reel that shares TMI!
- You could host your OWN party. Keep it small and do it consistently every week. There are so many friends to connect with from the past two years.
- You could build closer relationships with prospects who are thinking of joining, but hold back because they not savvy on social media.
- You could host a Launch party for a new recruit in their home. (Old fashioned concept.)
- You could meet someone for coffee and get to know them better. This was my go-to strategy to be a top recruiter.
- You could write your OWN customer email newsletter. (Email marketing far outweighs social media marketing.)
I’ve just given you 9 ways you could grow your business today without social media.
Don’t get me wrong, I love all the new technology, but don’t caught up in spending ALL your time on social media when you could be using that time to work directly with customers, hostesses and prospects who are ready to join your team.
